More About About Lycantrope / Weres in AY

Here you have information on playing a lycanthrope character in Aglarond. Links have been included for your reference, for reference only. The below is what is permitted on sim.

Alignments:There are three kinds of wolves. Lycans, Lythari, and Garou. Wolves can be neutral, evil, good, and so on. They each follow a set of their own gods based on the Faerun lore.

What are lycans? What is lycanthrope?
Lycanthropy is not a curse. It is a disease. If you get bit by a lycan, you will become a lycan or die.

The max age we set for characters with Lycanthropy is 500 years old. They are not immortal. They can become sick, however they may not become sick as quickly as a pure human being.

Pure Elves cannot turn into lycanthropes. They would have to go through the ritual of turning into a Lythari.

Lycanthropy is said to be created by the god Malar. It is said these lycans are more predatory and darker in alignment.

Lycanthropy is also said to be created by the goddess Selune. It is said these lycans are less predatory and more protective yet they would do what is necessary to survive.

Garou cannot turn anyone, and Lythari can only do so through a ritual with consenting parties. Lycans that were turned via bite can turn others. They can also have lycan offspring.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Lycanthrope/Lythari/Garou Weaknesses: Regardless of the type of lycanthrope they all share  some common strengths and weaknesses.

Silver: Silver is poison to weres of any kind and can result in death if not treated. The actual purity of silver does make a difference in weakness. While some less pure silver will leave a rash, more pure silver can leave burns and poison the blood.

Wolfsbane: Wolfsbane is a type of plant that can burn the skin, or poison the blood if consumed in any way. It also makes it harder for the weres to breath and may give them a burning sensation in their throat. Burned wolfsbane can cause high levels of toxicity in the lycanthrope if too much is inhaled. It can pass eventually and is not as severe as silver. This affects all lycanthropes regardless if they are wolves or not.

Strengths:
Increased healing, increased sight, hearing, and other senses.

Healing: Lycanthrope in non human/elf form can heal faster than a human, however they cannot regenerate limbs without other help or a very long time. Depending on the severity of the wounds it can take hours, days to weeks to even months to fully heal. Minor wounds can take hours, worse wounds can take more time depending on the severity. If they are dying, they should probably have someone find them a healer because if they are dying they are dying. They can heal faster in the listed forms: Crinos, Feral, Half.

Sidenote: The only type of lycanthrope that should be wearing any kind of clothing and armor or carrying weapons is one that is in the half shift(Hybrid form) or normal human/elf form. Lycans cannot wear clothing or carry weapons. They do not shift and hide their clothes beneath their shift for them to reappear once they shift back. If they shift fully to feral or crinos form their clothes will shred to nothing. Once they shift back they will shift back in the nude until they find clothes or a blanket.

Shifting: It must take two posts to shift to any form and a shift can be interrupted thus leaving them in a painful in between or one or the other form. Shifting is the realigning of bones, muscles, and changing the shape of your form, it will hurt no matter what. Those with more control on their shift may be able to do it slower and thus less painful, regardless at least two posts are required.

Lycans

There are two types: Turned and born.

Born Lycan are wolves or other lycanthrope animals that were born from one or more lycan infected parents. Only one parent needs to be a lycan. These lycans are similar to Garou in that they can shift easier and have more control. They can shift as young as one or even be born in animal form. Some may not shift until they hit puberty. They still feel the need to shift on a full moon but some may have more control than others. They still can still rage out as much as cursed lycans or shift more at will like Garou.

Turned Lycan are wolves or other lycanthrope animals that have been turned through a bite. Claw scratches do not turn someone. It must be a bite. They often lack control, but if they have been turned long enough they may be able to learn that control so they do not rage shift every time they get angry. They experience a serious flu like sickness prior to their turning. They will suffer fevers and other flu like symptoms at extreme levels. They will lose control of their emotions and may rage into their first painful shift within weeks of the bite. Come the full moon they are more than likely going to feel the pressure to shift or get very very angry and grumpy. A new lycan will have no choice but to shift on the full moon, regardless of when they were bitten.

Forms
They have four forms. Warform/Crinos, Feral,  and Half shift. The fourth shift is human or half elf and they look just like any other human or elf, although some if they are well connected to their wolf/lycan side may at times show wolf/animal like characteristics in human/elf form, for example their eyes may look less human.

Warform/Crinos: Large, like in stories, and stand on two feet. They look like giant furry monsters. This is usually the form that raging lycans take. They are 5x stronger, 4x faster, and their hearing is 3x better than a normal human.

Feral/Lupine: These wolves or other animal lycanthropes stand on four legs and look like normal animals with the exception some may be larger.(TWI dire size wolf, a small pony size) Some lycans can take this form instead of their warform. They are 4x stronger, 3x faster, and their hearing is 3x better than a human.

Half-shift/Hybrid: This form is a difficult form to achieve by choice. Some may find themselves stuck in this form between human and animal form. However a lycan who can control their shifts even a little may be able to take this form by choice. They have fur all over their body, animal ears at the side of their head, animal tail, and animal traits. However their size and shape looks that of a humanoid. The difference being in this form they are still stronger than a human. They are 3x stronger, 2x faster, and their hearing is 2x better than a human.

Half shift forms cannot look like Neko characters. Lythari do not have a half shift. If you are unsure please ask and Admin. Thank you.

*Usuallly, those with lycanthropy are wolves, but not all are wolves. They come in various types of animals, such as werecats, wereboars, and werebears.

Garou

Garou have the same number of forms as a lycan, they may simply have better control of their shifts. There are three types of garou.  Garou have more control and an easier time shifting. Many are believed to have been created by the Goddess Selune.

*Garou cannot turn others.
*Garou can be born from one human or half elf, and a garou.
*Garou can be born from one regular wolf and one human or half elf
*Garou can be born from a garou and a lycan.
*Garou cannot be born from two garou, as the offspring will come out deformed with major deformities and may die before birth or before they reach adulthood. Those garou who are born from two garou are called Metis.

The Garou are wolves only.

Types of Garou:
Homid:  Born in human/elf form and from one human/elf parent and one garou parent. Usually are more connected to human life. They do not shift until puberty and some do not realize they are even wolves. They may experience trouble with shifting at first.

Lupus: Born in wolf form and from one garou parent and one regular wolf parent. Usually are more connected to nature and feral life. They prefer their wolf forms to their human forms and are not always as open to human sides of life.

Metis: Born from two garou parents, and deformed. They may come out blind, deaf, or some other deformity that is greater or similar. They often do not live long and are often not accepted in day to day life by many, depending on the location in which they live. (Based on RP choice and such). Those garou who are born from two garou are called Metis. These Metis are caught between human and warform without all the regular strengths as a regular wolf. While they may learn to shift from one or another it is no easy task and most packs shun these types of wolves and they are not often happy creatures

*Usually those with lycanthropy are wolves but not all are wolves. They come in various types of animals, such as werecats.*

Lythari

Lythari are elves that can turn into wolves. They are only pure blood elves. They are considered true lycanthrope, and are often said to be part of the church of Selune. They are born as were-types to lycanthrope parents. Some types of evil aligned lycanthropes or lycans outside the life of elf lythari are hated and often chased off, and lythari are also chased off.

Lythari create more Lythari through rituals where both parties consent to the transformation. A permanent mark is left on them similar to a wolf bite of a turned lycan.

Lythari often live in small packs. They do not have the same kind of hierarchy as Garou and Lycans.

There are no Lythari Half-shifts.

Lythari are wolves only.
