Aglarond's Yuirwood
~ A Forgotten Realms RP Community ~
The Sanctum
Aglarond has always been a rich land, with fruitful trade, fertile lands and magical resources, and hard to get resources, due the ever growing Yuirwood. This richness translated into commerce and the gold coins have dragged pirates into the area, like bothering flies.
When the spellplague happened, and the western islands got isolated, the pirates razed ports, assaulted cities and caused incredible endless pain, but something unexpected happened at Delthuntle. A smart governor, struck a secret deal with the pirates, allowing them to hide in the island, getting resources, access to the shipyards and secret information. The cove became a secluded haven, with free repairs and great amounts of information and resources, but the things are changing...
For quite some time there has been hostilities between the factions. Once the Pirate Cove decided to aid in the defeat of the Thayans it only increased the risks of those secret alliances that are spoken of only in rumor and sometimes in the histories of Aglarond. The pirates lived their lives their own way but over time they eventually started to disperse, by taking to the seas or mysteriously disappearing. One day it seemed Pirate Cove was everything but full, it had the feeling of being abandoned and simply left to dust and dirt. But why? Had the pirates found more interesting things to pillage or were they tired of living in peace? Or perhaps the Red Wizards had something to do with it. Or maybe there was something more going on?
As the place seemed to be abandoned, some of the darker natured people started to spend more time there, but mostly found themselves hiding amongst the common crowds and pretending to be typical citizens. Perhaps they lived in fear of something, or perhaps they merely had other motives in mind. All the Pirate Lords seemed to have died by natural causes, assassinated, or just left and disappeared in complete mystery. There was one particular organization that hid in the shadows of Dethuntle with various fronts, such as high up positions and news reporters. While the leader of such a group did well to keep themselves hidden, eventually they began to grow bored of the life they were living.
Life at the Sanctum Cove:
After much time of staying separate from the Topolinos, for a long time, 'The Company' (formally the hidden thieves guild) started looking into the the Topolino family more. It was only a matter of time before the competition would tear the smaller organization apart. Instead the leader of 'The Company' secretly joined forces with the Topolinos. The leader took on some of their ways and became an unofficial student of the Topolinos. The leader used them to her advantage to improve her own assets and growing web of connections. Once the Pirate Cove seemed abandoned, after a short time of playing the part of Pirate Lord and gaining more connections, it was time to move on. The Topolino family kept to their own ways and the Pirate Lord brought the Company and guild of Topolinos into the underground formally known as Pirate Cove, in which she had controlled. The two groups conveniently took over the cove and turned it into the Deep Sanctum. The Cove was no longer known as the Pirate Cove, but became home to rookie and veteran criminals alike, training grounds, darker, dirtier, and more of a sanctum for the criminal underground. Rather than competing over who would be the Crime Lord, both groups came to agreements and worked together as much as they worked seperately. At times one half of the group does not always know what the other half is doing. Over time the groups would blend together.
