FAQs

1. Can I play here with my character from another sim, and travel?

Yes of course you can! Just be aware that Aglarond Yuirwood has a different Lore/History/Rules and it has to be from the same plane/setting. You also have to adapt that in the story you are going to have here. We won't apply stories from other sims to our Realm. Wo do however, want to make sure no overpowered charcters roam around, please check this page:

 2. I play a Pirate, can I use guns/Grenades?

In the Forgotten Realms, firearms are known as Smokepowder Weapons. Smokepowder is an alchemical substance created by the rock gnomes of the island nation of Lantan. Smokepowder pistols and muskets are rare outside of Lantan, but due to the large number of gnomish merchants selling these new weapons, they are increasing in circulation.
Now, though powerful, smokepowder weapons are not without their faults. First off, after every shot the weapon must be reloaded, a process involving adding a measure of smokepowder, a bullet, using a metal rod to slide the bullet and powder into place ,and placing a priming cap in the firing chamber. They are less versatile than a traditional ranged weapon and the firing rate is much slower. Also, if not loaded and primed properly, smokepowder weapons have a tendency to misfire, jamming or destroying the weapon and causing injury to the wielder. For these two reasons, smokepowder weapons have gained a reputation as being powerful, but unreliable weapons.

-You may only use a Flintlock pistol. Max 2 per avatar and 1 bullet per gun.

You have a reload time of 1 RP post where you describe the reloading fully.

Max range 10 meters. You can use dice to see if your bullet got a lucky hit

Dice roll 1: The smokepowder discharges in a bright explosion, blinding the wielder and causing 2 damage to the wielder. The weapon is damaged beyond repair and must be replaced.

Dice roll 2: The smokepowder discharges in a bright explosion, blinding the wielder  causing  1 damage to the wielder. The weapon is damaged and must be repaired by a smokepowder weaponsmith.

Dice roll 3: The smokepowder discharges in a bright explosion, blinding the wielder and jamming the weapon. It will take 1 round to clear the jam.

Dice roll4: Minimal damage, a scratch to the target

Dice roll5: A minor flesh wound, nothing lethal

Dice roll6: Bullet stuck in flesh or through and through, loosing blood, 1 damage point.

-Granades are rare: 2 per person, max 4 grenades in a group (it better be good rp!), a full post per throw. Damage range 5 meters around the target. 1 post delay with exploding. (Do not target buildings, thats just lame and you have to pay for repairs!)

You can use dice to see how much damage you made.

Dice roll 1-2:  It will explodes too soon, near you. 1 damage point to self

Dice roll 3-4: It will explode somewhere between you and your target, no damage

Dece roll 5-6: 1 Damage point to surrounding

3. I am a Mage, what can I do with Magic in the Realm?

The magic after the spellplague is unstable and in a place of magic like this, everything can happen! This means that some spells will work, some will fail or have a strange outcome.

ALSO: We do not want people to 'teleport'  themselves further than 20 meters (not through walls/rocks). We also do not want people walking around in the sky on disks. Some hovering above the ground is fine.

4. What do Admins/Faction Leads do here?

-Admins/faction leads play roles to fill in gaps. When we plan a rp story/game a few admins/leads will be around to get the story/game going. We created these for the players to have fun and become active in a scene.
-Admins/faction leads fill in gaps in factions. When a player steps up and would like to play the role they will be interviewed.
-Admins/faction leads have heaps to do to get things organized for you :)
-Admins/faction leads play Quest NPC's for you, not for themselves. :)
-Want to get involved?

IM Essie Radford or Eline Serendipity

5. The sim is pretty, can I show my friends around?

Aglarond is a Freeform RP sim, but Freeform doesnt mean 'without rules'
Every rp sim needs rules to guarantee some standards.
You can not TP in non-members/ooc people to the RP area and give them a tour. EVERYBODY must enter via the Arrival Area where they are offered information.
-Pick up the observer info

-Wear the Observer tag

-No chat in public

6. What are the rules about an NPC with your character (eg as guard)

Each player Alt (Avatar) may only have or control a single entity with regard to combat or skill use in Aglarond, at a time. "Companion" NPCs, whether virtual or "actual" (i.e. those rezzable 'pets' you can have following you around) are only acceptable as "color text" - possible conversation/emote partners - and may NOT use skills against other characters, or participate in any combat, etc.

Examples of inappropriate NPC Companions include (but is not limited to):
1. NPC "Guards" that "escort you" and fight for, defend, or otherwise impact the RP of another character.
2. Rezzed "Companions" or "pets" that defend, protect, or fight for their master/owner.
3. "Possessed" Hosts acting independently of the possessing spirit. (i.e. if a demon character is "possessing" a host, both the demon "spirit" and the possessed host do NOT receive separate actions during an RP turn.

The bottom line is, when it's your turn to act in an RP, you may only act as a single entity. The "parrot sitting on your shoulder" can opine and comment all it wants, but may not cast spells, defend its owner in any way, or do anything substantial in the RP beyond basic emotes and communication. The wolf can "growl" or parrot can complain, but little more.

The idea here is if you're allowed to have more than one "character" under your control in an RP, pretty soon everyone on the sim will be accompanied by an NPC "crack team of 6 ninja assassin guards" or similar, and, well, it will just be stupid.

EXCEPTIONS:
1. IC Leaders (Council Members) RPing within their own faction bases (e.g. a Yuirwood Council Member RPing within the Yuirwood) may call upon and control up to 6 NPC guards, which will arrive the next round (post) and will follow the instructions of the Leader, including combat, defense, arresting, etc. Such Guards may be controlled/RPd as a group, for efficiency, or each may have separate actions/rolls, depending on the situation being played out.
2. Game Masters acting in a moderator capacity, overseeing a SIM event/battle/RP may rez and control any number of NPC "characters" to participate in the RP.
