The Yuirwood
Once a powerful elf kingdom, connected with the mystical fabric of creation, the Yuirwoood is now a mass of ruins and magical vegetation, spreading everywhere on Aglarond, almost aggressively. While most elves left the place centuries ago; druid circles, idealists and wild green elves are still decided to live in the dangerous wilderness, trying to recover their lost legacy. In the island, the forests were slowly devoured by the growing city and settlements, but something stirred and awakened years ago and now, the tide has changed. The vegetation spreads, people is disappearing into the darkness and some elves have left the streets and joined the old ways.
Yuirwood is more alive than ever. The elven forest magic is awakening, coming from places beyond our world and singing a music, being a carried away by winds into the mainland, where million voices are answering. Dryads are slipping out trees, elves are feeling the druidic magic burning at their veins and faerie folk are appearing everywhere... But not every music is placid and the shadows are giving shelter to resentful forest folk and hateful beings, filled with anger and resentment towards the human population.
Life at Yuirwood:
Yuirwood is a place of nature, music and power. Elves, forest folk and druids try to live in some harmony but is not always possible.
Elves are the ones used to politics and diplomacy and they are the better option for peace, even only because some among them live outside the green and know both realities.
Druids are divided between protect nature, personal ambitions and find what the real balance is. Yuirwood is almost violent on its expansion, with razor vines, bloody thorns and invading roots. The power it brings is tempting... but is really part of the natural balance?
Forest Folk are diverse. The joyful pixies, causing constant problems on the village mix with the seductive nymphs more frequent on the river than ever, or the lustful satyrs. Some of them doesn't care on anything but joy and music, while others hide between the thorns, lurking in shadows, part of dark courts or angered after centuries watching how the forest were consumed and their families were forced to flee.
And a new song is coming from the sea...
But Yuirwood, with all its diversity and dangers, with all its shadows and lights, is after all, a spectacle for senses and a beauty beyond imagination, captivating everyone coming in. The old stones are again alive, the trees are speaking and spirits from times before, awake everywhere. The Yuirwood is carrying dreams and warnings, shattering the reality tapestry, making everything that was true, uncertain but... is this a menace or a warning?
The current situation:
Yuirwood has not a centralized government, but meaningful decisions about politics, warfare and magical situations are taken by a circle where an elf noble, a forest folk and a high druid are represented. Some whispers talk about a new place is open on the circle...
Recently, the forest folk leader has left the circle, because she was supporting a full scale war against the village and the others weren't agree. A conflict to recover lands and get the magic safe seems fine for the others, but they are not going to face the consequences and pain brought by a full scale war. To fill in the void, a new forest folk has been invited but the tension is alive among the forest dwellers.
Even when the conflicts against the village are frequent the elf keeps some ties with the ones there and won't support a total attack.
The Yuirwood has recently got a new foe. A magical tower has appeared from nowhere into the island and the wizards there have interests on the same magic nurturing the forest to spread. Forest and Tower have had several open conflicts and the only reason a total offensive has not exploded is because they ignore the real power of their adversary: any attempt of scry past the Tower's walls or send animal spies have failed, so they are tracing new plans.
